Snowdonia and the iconic Helyg
Details
This is a training weekend in Snowdonia, which will be useful for those working towards the GR20, but is open to everyone.
We'll be staying at the iconic Helyg hut, which has its origins in famous mountaineers training to summit Everest.
Scrambling is on the menu but that will be weather dependent!
The basic outline is:
- Meet up on the Friday evening in the pub in Capel Curig
- Saturday: A long walk on the hill
- Saturday evening: someone cooks a meal and we eat it regaling tales of current and previous exploits
- Sunday: a half day, lunch, cleaning up the hut and going home
The weekend will cost about £70ish and comprises of:
- RSVP of £25 for Meetup/group costs including the 'Group Box' of tea, coffee, milk, stupidly hot sauce for those who need it etc.
- Accommodation on a sharing non-ensuite basis
- Porridge breakfasts
- Evening meal on the Saturday
You will need to bring:
- Sleeping bag and pillow
- Hill food, flask and water bottle
- Appropriate footwear
- Appropriate clothing (full waterproofs are mandatory)
