An Alpine trip in late Sept to Cabane de Col de Cou (aka Maison de Bea!)

A quick Alpine trip in late September
This is a quick Alpine trip to Bea's hut to show her some support and/or do some Alpine walking or some volunteering or a mixture of both!

Bea's hut is the Cabane de Col de Cou
As some of you know the lovely Bea (an original group member) is fulfilling her dream of running an Alpine hut. Bea's hut is a 2 hour walk up the hill from Champery. The Cabane is on the French-Swiss border and, as you can see from the photo, is not finished yet!

If you volunteer a day you get free bed and board for that day. This also enables you to be a 'Friend of the Hut' for which you get one free night for each future visit and 50% off drinks whenever you next pop by.

There is also the opportunity of doing some Alpine walking with a number of routes passing by the hut, but you'll need to pay for your bed and board on those days.

The Plan

• Fly out on Thu 25 Sep at 0600 and reach the hut in time for dinner
• Spend 3 days at the hut doing a variety of things (tbd)
• Return on Mon 29 Sep and be back in the UK for tea time

The Cost

• £183 for the KLM flight which includes hand luggage
• £100 (roughly) for train and bus tickets from Geneva airport to Champery (nearest village)
• Bed and board (aka 'demi-pension' which is dinner, bed and breakfast' in the hut

The Detail
Thursday

• KLM flight from Birmingham at 0600 to Geneva airport (GVA) arriving 1110 (this means being at the airport for 0400! Not great, but people can stay at my place the night before if that helps!)
• Train and bus from GVA at 1155 (or 1255) to Champery arriving 1437 (or 1537)
• 2 hour walk up the hill to the Cabane

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

• To be decided upon who wants to visit and what they want to do. I'm happy to sort out 3 days of walking if that's what people want or do a mixture of walking and volunteering

Monday

• Early start to depart the hut and walk down to Champery to catch the bus at 0850
• Train to GVA arriving GVA at 1144
• KLM flight from GVA at 1410 arriving B'ham at 1650.
