Offa's Dyke Housewarming; 8 years on...
Details
Hi all,
OPEN TO NEWBIES AND OLDIES ALIKE!
As some of you Oldies may remember, in April 2018 I moved into my ‘new’ gaff in Chepstow and in celebration had a 3PG weekend doing the 1st section of the Offa’s Dyke …and have been having annual events ever since (except last year when we were in NZ!).
For those that came along to that first session, you saw the ‘raw’ state of my 3 / 4 year DIY project in all of its sad glory. Well, 8 years on, it’s a little better but not yet finished and the project is now a 9/10 year challenge! By the time April comes around, downstairs and upstairsa should be finished (except for the snag list!) and just the conservatory and 'rear' garden to go!
So, to celebrate a little progress on its anniversary and to gain a little sympathetic encouragement, some walking and a few bevvies, I’m holding an open house again. Zero cost for accommodation (3 bedrooms now and plenty of floor space), just monies for Jackie's cafe food.
Outline plan:
• Fri evening: Arrive, meet at the Rising Sun in Woodcroft, Chepstow. (Car share as much as possible please).
• Sat: A 12-15 mile circular route taking in some of the Offa’s Dyke.
• Sat evening: a meal provided by Jackie's Cafe Services!
• Sun am: A shorter walk somewhere before a spot of lunch and you clearing off to your own homes!
Three double beds available, first come first served; don't forget your sleeping bags / sleeping mats!
Normal £25 deposit applies (includes Meetup fee, and PayPal charge on top) and this will cover all the food, group box, insurance, etc., there will be no extra cost. Lunches and snacks for the walks need to be provided by yourselves, as will any drinks you may wish to bring.
PS. For those that have done a little sport climbing, turn up late Fri morning and we can go and do some easy route climbs over the quarry in the afternoon! Make sure you bring your harness and safety helmet.
