Exploring the Carneddau from the East!
Details
Newcomers welcome!
This weekend is open to anyone whether you're training for the Tour de Dents Blanche challenge in the Alps this summer or something else.
We're going to an area of Eryri national park (aka Snowdonia) that we've never been before and will be staying in a remote bunkhouse (car assessible!).
The outline plan is:
Car share where possible and meet in the Eagles Hotel, Llanwrst before going to the bunkhouse
Saturday: A scrambly walk to Carnedd Llewellyn
Saturday evening: Someone will make a delicious homecooked meal, which will cater to most dietary requirements. Other people will wash up etc.
Sunday: a shorter walk followed by lunch back at the hut. Everybody joins in cleaning the bunkhouse and then we go home
The cost for the weekend is £85.18 comprising a RSVP fee of £25 through Meet up (plus PayPal fee of £2.18) plus £60 one month before the event. This will cover:
- Shared accommodation in a bunkhouse so you need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow (plus tea towel)
- 2 breakfasts of porridge, berries and honey (or BYO)
- Evening meal
- Contribution to group costs such as Meetup fees, insurance, group box with tea, coffee and other stuff, equipment, recces, first aid training etc.
We want this to be as inclusive as possible and that means keeping costs down, hence why we stay in a bunkhouse and have shared meals. The shared meals are also great for bonding and learning more about the group/each other.
The weekend will be led by Phil who is a fully qualified and experienced Mountain Leader who runs the weekends/group to Outdoor Industry standards. Phil is also a qualified Outdoor First Aider. Phil is not paid a wage to do this and this is a 'not for profit' group.
