Explore Hidden Lake Gardens

Tipton, Michigan

Why not ease into your weekend with a peaceful and relaxing experience?

Do you like delicacy of colorful flowers?

Are you drawn to patterns, lines, forms?

Are landscapes photographically interesting to you?

Would you like to see a new place?

If you answered yes to one or more of these, join me At Hidden Lake Gardens on Sunday, August 19th.

Hidden Lake Gardens is a magnificent botanical treasure house that is managed by Michigan State University. There three greenhouses where you can photograph a variety of interesting plants from desert, tropical, and temperate environments. In addition, beautiful flowers, meadows, woodlands, and ponds surround the greenhouses for acres and acres. A lovely, winding paved road connects all parts of the grounds.

To help you get oriented, Tipton, Michigan is slightly south and west of Manchester, and Manchester is due south of Chelsea.

We will meet in front of the greenhouses at 10am.

Although the doors open at 9am, I thought you might enjoy the chance to sleep in a bit after a week of working. Meeting at 10am will be just fine. While our Meetup ends after lunch, you are welcome to stay and enjoy as long as you wish.

Part of the mission of Hidden Gardens is to “instill an appreciation of plants, gardens, landscapes, and the natural environment.”

The mission is also “to preserve an undeveloped area of the scenic Irish Hills, providing a place of beauty and inspiration for public enjoyment.”

To get a sense of the place, here’s an illustrated map:

Here’s a link to Google maps. It will give you an aerial view of the grounds. You can also obtain directions to Hidden Gardens from your home.
