Join us at Rancho las Cascadas for a wonderful week of bonding with horses. Nestled on a mountain plateau in rural Mexico, bordered by three waterfalls, Rancho Las Cascadas is reputed to be the most hospitable hacienda in Mexico! The ranch is all-inclusive so all you need is to pack your dreams and personal goals.
The equine activities will be done on the ground, no riding experience necessary. Though riding opportunities will be offered throughout your stay.
The workshop consists of three days of therapeutic horse-work. There will be five hours of therapeutic exercises in the round pen with breaks for snacks, lunch and discussion. The horses are our co-therapists as we explore issues of intimacy and connection, boundaries and assertiveness, mindfulness, self-awareness, and acceptance among other issues. And play! An integral part of healing!
You’re welcome to enjoy the lovely trails led by highly-trained vaqueros (Mexican cowboys) in the afternoons in lieu of the round pen exercises. Each group is organized by riding experience so everyone from beginners to those wanting to gallop along the wide expanses will have an opportunity.
Near the end of each day, there is a silent meditation ride into the mountains and the sunset.
Of course, margaritas and wine will be awaiting you at the end of your trail experiences!
The fourth day of the workshop is set aside for either full-day excursions to San Miguel de Allende* or you can choose to stay at the ranch and partake of the various activities offered, such as trail riding, hiking, massages, pool, and hot tubs. There are also additional excursions to choose from.
*This year we have organized a two-hour hour horse ride through the City including stops at three cantinas along the way! Cost is around $200.00.
Your Instructors:
Dr. Alita Buzel, author of Beyond Words: The Healing Power of Horses has over thirty-years of therapeutic experience. Her workshops are not only healing and therapeutic but fun and playful for both humans and horses. Dr. Buzel has a strong belief in laughter and joy as an inherent part of being a full human being.
Stacey Carter is the founder of Heart Centered Horsemanship, where she helps people discover a deeper, more authentic connection with themselves and horses. As a PATH Certified Equine Specialist and yoga instructor, Stacey weaves mindfulness, movement and compassionate horsemanship to creature experiences that nurture both humans and horses. She believes horses are powerful guides who can lead us toward greater presence and peace.
This will be Alita and Stacey’s fourth workshop held as The Ranch.
Costs:
A shared room is: $463.00/night (including tax and 15% workshop discount.) Total for the week: $2315.00
A single room is: $564.00/night (including tax and 15% workshop discount). Total for the week: $2820.00
The Ranch offers transfers to and from the Mexico City International Airport. The cost per van is $290.00. The Ranch is approximately one- and one-half hour from the airport. The transfers will be offered once daily.
A 30% deposit will be needed by November 30th, 2025. Deposits are non-refundable but can be used for a future reservation within twelve months of booking.
