BDPA hosts ‘Dallas Blacks In Technology’ to collaborate with the vibrant community of like-minded technology professionals of color in our city. The doors are wide open for those folks who are passionate about all things technical. Our meetups encourage fun, socializing and high level talks on a variety of technology topics. IT recruiters and IT job seekers will share information in a face-to-face setting.
Cloud computing has proven a boon to businesses—especially small businesses, for which it hits a particularly sweet spot. With cloud services, small businesses reap the benefits of not having to deploy physical infrastructure like file and e-mail servers, storage systems or shrink-wrapped software. Plus, the "anywhere, anytime" availability of these solutions, means hassle-free collaboration among business partners and employees using the ubiquitous browser. Cloud services also provide entrepreneurs, SOHOs, and mom-and-pop outfits access to sophisticated technology without the need of an IT consultant or tech worker on the payroll. Curiously, few have talked about the methods and technology used to make cloud computing on your personal smart phone.
Our guest speaker, Ed Gowens (Santander Consumer USA) is a seasoned manager with over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. Ed is an exceptional project manager who has led tasks for the implementation of corporate email systems, development platforms, mobility devices, asset management systems, document management systems and service management platforms. Ed graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in computational mathematics. Ed is well known within the industry for his work with youth in greater Dallas area.
We look forward to engaging with all Dallas area technology professionals about the impact cloud computing is having in our increasing mobile-based society. Anyone … regardless of race or color … interested in tech is welcome!
