Join The Bhakti House community for a beautiful Sunday gathering of live devotional music (Kirtan) and a free vegetarian community meal (Langar) at the Sikh Temple in Jackson.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the spirit of devotion, music, community, and service while connecting with others who appreciate spiritual traditions centered on compassion and unity.
Everyone is welcome.

## Event Schedule

12:00 PM – 12:30 PM | Snacks & Arrival
Light vegetarian snacks are served as people arrive.
This is a great time for our group to meet, introduce ourselves, and connect before the program begins.
~12:30 PM – ~2:00 PM | Live Kirtan
The congregation gathers in the sanctuary for devotional kirtan — traditional spiritual music featuring singing and instruments.
The atmosphere is peaceful, joyful, and welcoming.
~2:00 PM – 2:30 PM+ | Langar (Free Community Meal)
After the kirtan, everyone proceeds to the dining hall for Langar, the Sikh tradition of serving a free community meal to everyone regardless of background.
The meal is:
• 100% vegetarian
• freshly prepared by volunteers
all-you-can-eat
This is another great time for our group to sit together, talk, and enjoy the food and community.

## What is Langar?

Langar is one of the most beautiful traditions in Sikh culture.
Every Sikh temple in the world serves free vegetarian meals to anyone who visits, regardless of religion, nationality, or social status.
Millions of people eat Langar every day around the world.

## Sikh Temple Customs (What to Expect)

To respect Sikh traditions, visitors are asked to follow a few simple customs.
Remove Shoes & Socks
Everyone removes their shoes before entering the temple building.
Wash Hands
Visitors wash their hands before entering the main sanctuary and again before eating.
Head Covering Required
Both men and women must cover their heads inside the temple.
Don't worry if you don't bring one — head coverings are provided at the entrance.
Respect the Food
Langar is served with a spirit of gratitude and service.
You may take as much food as you like, but the custom is to finish everything on your plate.
