About us

Welcome to Bicerin, a meetup group for anyone passionate about the liberal arts—whether that’s philosophy, painting, writing, or any other creative or intellectual pursuit that feeds the soul.

Founded by Edward Breen and Antonello Mirone, Bicerin was created with the intent to build a thoughtful, engaging club centered around culture and the liberal arts.

We're here to share ideas, have some drinks, meet like-minded people, and spark discussions that leave you thinking long after you’ve left the room (respectfully!).
Think cozy salons, lively debates, book and art sharing, and the occasional event or workshop when inspiration strikes.

We have a growing hub of articles, essays, and musings over at our site: https://www.bicerin-literature.co.uk/. Check it out and get a feel for what we’re about.

Join us, bring your ideas, and let’s create something thoughtful together.

📍 Meet at Canterbury WEST • 🕙 Time 9:50 AM • 🎨 Explore the National Gallery, London
Pack your curiosity, a sense of wonder, and a ready smile — we’re stealing a day from the ordinary to walk among painted dreams and tangled histories.
Departing Canterbury at 10:06 AM, we’ll make our way to the heart of London’s artistic treasure chest: the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square. Here, where Van Gogh’s sunlit blooms whisper, Titian’s queens command, and Constable’s gentle landscapes hum with memory, we’ll let the art lead us into conversation and connection.

If along the way you find yourself puzzled or intrigued by an artistic technique, a material choice, or a painter’s sleight of hand, Antonello Mirone (atelier-trained artist) will be on hand to offer explanations — informal, generous, and sparked by curiosity rather than lectures.

Feel free to drift toward the paintings that pull at you, then gather back to share impressions, questions, and thoughts that only great art can provoke.

    What to expect

    • 🚆 Depart Canterbury WEST — meet at the station at 9:50 AM for the journey (please buy your day return off-peak ticket in advance), we'll take the 10:06 to Charing Cross.
    • 🖼️ Free admission to the National Gallery — ticketing may require booking a timed entry in advance.
    • Cafe pause — mid-day, we’ll regroup in the Gallery’s own café or a nearby spot to stretch legs and exchange serendipities.
    • 🗣️ Shared exploration — bring questions, stories, or a favourite artist you’ve longed to encounter.
    • Optional Lunch at "Da Michele Pizzeria" in Soho
    • 🕔 Return by early evening — after our time with masterpieces, we’ll head back, minds a little fuller than we came.

Whether you’re an art lover or someone just catching the bug, this day promises conversations sparked by colour, light, shadow, and the limitless imagination of human hands.
