Sketch & Sculpture: A Drawing Day at the V&A
Details
Ever wondered what it feels like to trace the whisper of marble with a humble pencil? To let your gaze wander through folds of stone and ancient grace and translate it into graphite poetry on paper?
Join us for a day at the Victoria and Albert Museum where we’ll practice drawing from sculpture from heroic torsos to delicate drapery, from spirited mythic beasts to silent saints in stone.
And if you don’t feel like sketching? Come anyway!
What to Bring:
✏️ Click pencils or regular pencils only — our excuse to keep it clean and thoughtful.
📓 A sketchbook or pads of paper.
What not to bring:
🔥 Charcoal/pastels (not allowed)
What to expect
- 🚆 Depart Canterbury EAST — meet at the station at 9:30 AM for the journey (please buy your day return off-peak ticket in advance), we'll take the 09:47 to Victoria.

- ☕ Lunch — around 2PM, we’ll regroup in the Museum own café or a nearby spot (south kensington) to stretch legs, have food and exchange sketches.
- 🗣️ Shared exploration — bring questions, stories, or a favourite artist you’ve longed to encounter.
- 🕔 Return by early evening — after our time with masterpieces, we’ll head back, minds a little fuller than we came.
Artist Antonello Mirone will be on site throughout the session and available for any drawing questions — whether you’re wrestling with proportion, curious about structure, or simply wondering how to make stone feel alive on paper.
