The Schedule:

Doors Open at 7PM

7PM to 8PM Arrival window for the meetup.

8pm to 10PM Shadow Performances

10PMpm to 11PM Live Performance by Musical Guests

11PM to 1:30PM Showtunes Karaoke

So the event has three distance different elements.

The Shadow Performances portion is essentially they show music videos of Musicals on several giant screens and over the sound system, . . . WITH live staging below. Think along the lines of Rocky Horror, but with Musicals, . . . in a bar!!!!

The Live Spot segment will be from the cast of Little Shop Of Horrors doing live performances.

And then things devolve to Showtunes Karaoke.

We did this yearly till Feb 2019 and have not done since the pandemic hit . . . . and now it's time to do it again.

About the event: It's got some great pros and cons.

First of all, . . . it's on a Monday night. (that a con).
On the pro side, . . . It is EPIC FUN!!!!!

After all . . . Musicals are back . . . so we should be too!
But when did musicals ever really leave?

The bar is very accommodating to us. The set aside a whole area for us even with a sign!!!

Arrival is between 7 and 8. If you get there after 8 you will find us. But will be standing room if busy.

How can you go wrong? Live Music and a Floor Show with No Cover and No Minimum WITH our own area set aside for the Meetup!!

Plenty of Meter Street Parking available (make sure to feed the meter)
There is a public lot at 625 N San Vicente Blvd

I suggest you uber there . . . that way no worries about drinks.

Unlike most nights, when the latest Top 40 dance hits can be heard in heavy rotation at the Santa Monica Boulevard hotspot
The genre of choice on Mondays is MUSICALS... purely musicals.

For one night only, Gaga, Beyoncé, Madonna and Rihanna take a backseat while the songs of musical legends like Barbra Streisand, Patti LuPone, Kristen Chenowith and Linda Eder rule the stage.

A mix of live performances and videos of classic moments from Broadway and film make this not only one of the most feel-good nights of the week, but also one heck of a reason to actually look forward to Mondays.

Oh yes, . . .if anybody want's to join as Event Host just drop me a note. Or if you are an Event Organizer on the group just add yourself.

Those who sign up for the Strangers on a Train Murder Mystery will be an active sleuths in solving the mystery.

A unique drama will unfold in, among and around us. Different scenes will happen in two or three separate train cars simultaneously.
So you will only see the part of the plot that unfolds in front of you in your train car.

We will start out as Strangers on a Train.
And end as some new and old friends.
And have quite a ride of a Murder Mystery along the way.

You will interact with the other participants in the other coaches in San Diego and on the return, and piece together the other parts to figure out your guess of Whodunnit And Whydunnit.

Let me say this again: Vignettes will occur simultaneously in multiple cars. It is possible to comprehend the whole story only if you communicate with other participants and collaborate info.

After all, . . . it's a meetup!!! So of course there is a way to meet the other people. And THIS is the vehicle to do it.

A: Our events always fill. And often well in advance of the events. Our events are limited in size and aim for high quality. The limit is what helps keep it high quality fun. The best I can help with is links to the next dates so you get in early and do not miss out again. The next ones WILL fill early. Don't wait.

Q: What about refunds if my plans change or something comes up?
A: As long as you let me know a week before the date or more . . . I refund (less any paypal fees). So there is not a huge risk to commit early.

Q: The link says Paypal. I don't have paypal, or I am banned from Paypal, or I just think they are evil and don't use them. What can I do?
A: This is a commerce link. Not a personal acct. You do not need Paypal to use the link. You can use any credit or debit card. When you get to the 2nd screen it asks "click here to login to paypal." And the other button says "Click here to use any credit or debit card."
If you click that you process as guest. No login. Easy Peasy.

Q: This train murder mystery looks fun. But I want a different day. Can I just go direct to the people doing this?
A: For some events organizers don't do too much organizing. It's often "just show up." In this case . . . We are the people doing this. We organize this entire event from scratch. We create and execute this event.
As such it is superfun good decent social. it's a Meetup where you come as strangers (on a train) and leave as friends. Well, . . . one of them dies along the way. But the rest of us live with that. As well as the many laughs, smiles and memories.

Our Meetup is off to another hiking adventure! Mt Kilimanjaro, as the tallest mountain in Africa, is included in the 7 Summits of the world.
It is a bucket-list item for all hard-core hikers and mountain lovers.

Let's get to some numbers. It is 5,895m/19,340ft

BUT . . . our starting elevation for the trek is 3795m/12541ft

As such elevation gain is 2100m/6799ft

To compare Everest Base Camp trek, is about 2754m/9035ft elevation change. And Mt Whitney is about 1828m/6000ft elevation change.

The key to being able to succeed in this endeavor lays in the route and the support system.

We are taking the Lemosho Route via the Northern Circuit. The Northern Circuit route is the longest and newest of the seven established Kilimanjaro routes. It's one of the best routes because it has the best acclimatization profile. This results in one of the highest summit success rates. Add to that stunning views, and comparatively relaxed pace. It is also much less crowded than the other Kilimanjaro routes.

As far as our support system: We will be accompanied by experienced guides, porters and cooks. They are certified, ensuring our safety and comfort. Porters will carry our gear.

We will have a high ratio of guides to hikers. Our guides will go our pace and support each and everyone of us, regardless of fitness level. In other words...you go your own speed and we all get there safe.

More about our trek/trip.
As with all our international trips, we picked the best season/time of year to go for weather and wild-life. Lemosho and Northern Circuit is a scenically spectacular and varied route. At the lower elevations it has an abundance of wildlife such as elephant, buffalo, eland and lion which come over to forage during dry season.

Another thing we have done for timing is . . . the last stretch to the summit we leave camp at midnight. June 13th will be a Full Moon making it a stunning hike.

Each of our trips is personally crafted to offer the best places and best use of time.

But I don't have the needed gear?!
You don't need much more than the standard trekker's equipment. We will provide you with a list of what is already included and what can be rented there.

Does this include food?
All meals on the trek potion are included and a cook travels with us!

What is lodging like?
We are sleeping in new and comfortable tents (carried during the day by porters)

I am new at this.
That's OK. We do plenty of prep Zooms before we depart. And in California we have a number of local outdoor day or weekend outings you can test out with us.

How dangerous is this? What if I get sick or hurt?
We will be walking on an established, well used trail the entire time. Our trip INCLUDES emergency insurance. We are also Certified Wilderness First Responders and our guides are members of (AMREF) Flying Doctor.
Plain and simple, safety is our primary goal.

The Bridge To Nowhere hike is a bucket list hike for many.

While the destination is a draw . . . so is the terrain to get there.

River crossings abound. Great hike to beat the heat.

Along with the main hike to the bridge . . . we will ALSO visit to the hidden and often missed waterfall. As well as one of the abandoned mines.

There are also some swimming holes we can visit too.

This hike is close to the Tunnels to Nowhere . . . but that's a different hike we will do another time.

Several river crossings
5 to 6hrs. 7 if you add the waterfall and mine.

Dogs OK . . . but they have to be able to cross water w/current, or be carried.

Parking . . . There is a small lot at the trailhead. It will prob have spots open to 7:30AM . . . By about 8 that will all be filled. What I am saying you will likely be parking about a 1/4 or 1/2 mile walk from the trailhead. So to be there on time . . . arrive early.

Get there early . . . I will have coffee
Bring your lightweight camping chair . . . we can sit and hang out till folks arrive.

We will be brining plastic bags with us and we will be filling them on the way out.

Get out and hike.
Do some social with others.
Do some good too.

Parking Permit . . . You will need an "Adventure Pass."

Itinerary:
7:00 to 10:30 LA to Paso Robles
10:30 to 12:00 Rails Nap
12:00 to 1:30 Sculptera Winery and lunch bites
1:30 to 3:00 Bianchi
3:00 to 4:30 Tobin James
4:30 to 5:30 Thai dinner in Paso
5:30 to 6:30 5th Wine tasting in town at tasting room in Paso
Gas up/restrooms . . freshen up and head home.
Expected around 9:30PM
6: to 9:30 PM os time to nap and Sober up.

Let's look closer at this sched. First of all . . .this is a guide, and NOT hard in stone. Times and itinerary is subject to change & adjusting as we go.

The one thing that is NOT flexible is our depart time.
THIS WILL BE FIRM!!!!! BE EARLY TO BE ON TIME.
We are leaving 7:00 AM SHARP
It gives 3 hrs there and 3 back (and 1/2 hr float).
If you look you will see it gives us generous time per location and time for getting on and off and travel between.

But again . . there is flexibility within this. We can linger longer or bail early of the place is just not working for us..

All of these wineries are on many of the Paso Robles top ten best wineries lists.

Primary Pickup and drop-off is a central location. There will be a secondary pickup in Santa Clarita for those in Valley, or who are north of the LA start-point.
If the LA start-point does not work for you send a note about our second pickup.
