Airflow and Dremio 101

Hello everyone,

as the group's new organiser, I am proud to introduce this new data engineering meetup, which will take place on 10 November at the beautiful Uqido venue.
We will have two guests who will talk to us about Airflow and Dremio, with a chance to get hands-on with the tools right away. This will be followed by refreshments where we can get to know each other better, share ideas and, of course, drink and eat!

This is the agenda:

• 18:45: Meetup introduction
• 19:00-19:45: Airflow 101 (Giorgio Amato)
• 19:45-20:30: Dremio 101 (Damiano Derin)
• 20:30-21:30: Refreshments!

Airflow 101
Giorgio Amato is a data engineer at Agile Lab and a lover of home-made pizza.
During his talk we're going to meet the most prominent orchestrator out of the world: Airflow. We will discover the basics of Airflow plus some more standard architectures where Airflow could fit in. Last but not least, we will do a little interactive session with some simple exercises to grasp the overall concepts.

Prerequisites if you want to follow the exercises: Docker Community Edition, Docker compose (v1.29.1 or greater). We will share with you a github repo that you could clone.

Dremio 101
Damiano Derin is a Data Engineer at Agile Lab and a master of many arts.
During his talk we’ll discover Dremio, an easy and open data lakehouse, that powers a zero-copy architecture making possible to run analytical solutions directly on your cloud data lake.
After a technical introduction, we’ll have an interactive session to show how it works and its benefits.
