Title: Demystifying Copilot Cowork (August 2026 Edition)
Description: Many professionals are familiar with Microsoft 365 Copilot as an AI assistant that can answer questions, summarize information, and help create content. Copilot Cowork takes the experience further. Instead of simply suggesting what you should do, it can plan and carry out complex, multi-step work across Microsoft 365—such as researching organizational information, creating documents and presentations, managing files, preparing and sending emails, coordinating meetings, and posting updates in Microsoft Teams. Users remain in control through review and approval checkpoints before important actions are completed.
In this session, we will demystify Copilot Cowork and explain how it differs from Copilot Chat, traditional automation, and custom AI agents. You will learn how Cowork uses Work IQ to understand your organizational context, coordinate multiple tools, and deliver completed outcomes rather than only drafts or recommendations.
Through practical demonstrations and real-world scenarios, we will explore how to delegate time-consuming work, write effective Cowork requests, monitor progress, review actions, and maintain appropriate human oversight. We will also examine plugins and extensibility, enterprise security and compliance, licensing and consumption-based costs, current limitations, and the considerations organizations should evaluate before adopting Copilot Cowork.
Whether you are a business user, developer, IT professional, architect, or technology leader, this session will help you understand where Copilot Cowork fits within the Microsoft 365 Copilot ecosystem and how it can transform everyday tasks into secure, agent-driven workflows.
Location: The meeting will be hosted in the Applied Information Sciences ( AIS ) office in Reston, at 11440 Commerce Park Dr # 600 · Reston, VA. The location is also right off the Silver Line metro's Wiehle-Reston Metro Station.
Parking: Parking is paid and can be validated at the AIS office reception.
We will meet in Room Lake Anne/Newport.
We hope to see you all there!!!!
