Hi everyone,

Here we are with another interesting meetup.

Two of the presentations will be related to Apache Spark (http://spark.apache.org/) and the other one about a real live experience on Western Australia Rental Prices (https://www.kaggle.com/c/deloitte-western-australia-rental-prices) kaggle competition.

The list of presentations is :

1. Crunching Big Data with Apache Spark and Python (Andrei Bacu from betfair (https://www.linkedin.com/in/andreibacu))

This presentation will go through Apache Spark's computing framework, its advantages over Hadoop & MapReduce, and hands-on Spark programming using the PySpark API.

2. Getting started with Databricks (https://databricks.com/)to easily instantiate a Spark cluster (Adrian Bona from Telenav (https://ro.linkedin.com/in/adrianulbona/en))

In this presentation Adrian will show us how to use Databricks platform to instantiate a Spark cluster in very simple steps. After that you will see how to run SQL queries on Spark with some awesome visualisations.

3. Machine Learning and the anatomy of a Kaggle competition (George Ciobanu from betfair (https://ro.linkedin.com/in/georgeciobanu))

Uncover hidden gems in dirty data. George will give a short introduction of Kaggle competitions and some tips on how to plan and design a top solution from scratch.

We are gonna have pizza, juices and beers in the beginning of the meetup.
