Apache Spark Workshop

Hi everyone,

We are very happy to announce the first workshop of Apache Spark (http://spark.apache.org/) in Cluj-Napoca.

Spark is the new trend in big data technologies, offering you an easy API and multiple environment to work with, like Batch (http://spark.apache.org/docs/latest/programming-guide.html), Streaming (http://spark.apache.org/docs/latest/streaming-programming-guide.html), SQL (http://spark.apache.org/docs/latest/sql-programming-guide.html), Graph (http://spark.apache.org/docs/latest/graphx-programming-guide.html)and Machine Learning (http://spark.apache.org/docs/latest/mllib-guide.html) processing.

To handle better the workshop, the number of participants is limited to 20 participants.

In the first workshop, we are gonna show you the main characteristics of Spark, namely RDD, Actions and Transformations.

The workshop will start with Spark intro and will continue with many Spark examples, including the well know Wordcount example. Examples will be written and explained in different languages, Java, Scala and Python.

You are gonna need your own laptop and we will provide the cluster infrastructure. More details soon :)
