Get ready for our second Big Data NOVA Meetup on Wednesday, October 30th, 2019! We will be hosting at Fierce’s office in Herndon. COME for the Big Data goodness, STAY for the pizza, beer AND costume contest!!!

AGENDA:

Kickoff: Eric Updegrove & Jamie Borup from our Data Analytics Team will discuss how important industry relationships with partners like Cloudera, Elastic, Red Hat, etc have guided the Big Data strategy at Fierce Software.

Join Amy Ghate and Michael Young, Solutions Architects at Elastic, on a tour of the Elastic Stack's geospatial capabilities. This talk will provide a quick overview of the broader Elastic Stack capabilities followed by a more detailed deep dive and live demo of New York City bus data. Learn how to operationalize your data via dashboards, alerting, geofencing and machine learning to incorporate geospatial analytics with other kinds of data analytics.

We’ve also got some great prizes lined up for those who come dressed in costumes. The judge is partial to Star Wars and the MCU!

PRESENTERS:

Michael Young
Elastic

Michael Young is a Principal Solutions Architect for Elastic supporting the federal team. He has been providing operational support to the federal government in a variety of contracting and consulting roles over the last 20 years. His roles have covered everything from technical writing and training to system administration, software development (including a stint as a product manager), and solutions architecture. Michael's focus over the last 10 years has been in the Big Data and Information Retrieval domains. In his younger years, he spent 7 years in the US Army as a DoD certified Korean linguist in Military Intelligence.

Amy Ghate
Elastic

Amy Ghate is a Senior Solutions Architect for Elastic. She supports the federal team specifically our civilian agencies. Before Elastic, she was an architect at Mapbox helping customers build location-centric solutions. Prior to that, she spent several years at Microsoft as an infrastructure consultant helping federal and non-profit clients deploy technologies like Active Directory and System Center.
