YARN Tech Talk: The Data Operating System for Hadoop 2.0

Details

A Tech Talk about YARN with Caserta Concepts and Hortonworks.

Apache™ Hadoop® YARN is a sub-project of Hadoop at the Apache Software Foundation introduced in Hadoop 2.0 that separates the resource management and processing components. YARN was born of a need to enable a broader array of interaction patterns for data stored in HDFS beyond MapReduce. The YARN-based architecture of Hadoop 2.0 provides a more general processing platform that is not constrained to MapReduce. The talk will cover; What, Why and How to build Applications on YARN.

We will give a live demo of a large-scale Monte Carlo Simulation (a highly compute and memory intensive application) running in a distributed Hadoop cluster managed by YARN. We look forward to seeing you there!

Presenters:

Joe Caserta - President, Caserta Concepts

Nadeem Asghar - Principal Solution Engineer, Hortonworks

Oleg Zhurakousky - Principal Architect, Hortonworks
