Post Pandemic Scenarios for NON-PROFITS - A futurist view

The next in our series of how to think like a futurist by developing post pandemic scenarios.

This session will focus on the needs of Non-Profit organizations such as food banks, homeless housing services, employment services and other community non-profits.

We will prep a sharable case study in advance and invite the session attendees to participate in exercises to collectively build on and add to this case study. As a group we will explore how non-profit organizations can adapt to new constraints and thrive in a post Covid19 world.

Be prepared to discuss the following:

• What are the "timeless" needs or activities of your org? (building awareness, communicating, coordinating services, engaging with donors etc)
• Which factors are both important and uncertain in the future (funding? staffing? need for services? etc)
• Which trends and underlying forces might have the most impact on your orgs operations in the near term? (staff PPE needs, inability to host in-person charity fundraising events, maintaining engagement using digital channels etc)

Futurists often look out 10+ years because there typically isn't enough change or uncertainty in the short term to worry about.

The current pandemic now means we need to put our efforts into thinking through the next 3/6/12 MONTHS.

We can't predict how this story will unfold, but we CAN use foresight tools to begin the process of thinking through what's possible and which early indicators might signal the next shift in direction.
