Kealakekua Bay Swim

Details
This event will be a swim across Kealakekua Bay. The distance is a little more than a mile swim each way as we don’t swim a direct line but rather a slight arch keeping slightly closer to shore to mitigate open water waves. Please don’t join unless you are a comfortable open water swimmer. We will swim across the bay to the monument and relax for a while and snorkel and then swim back.
Any swimmers should be very comfortable open water swimmers with performance fins. My wife and I do the swim in our long free diving fins and I generally tow a free diving safety buoy so we are well marked. Towing the buoy it generally takes us 45 minutes give or take depending on swells with it generally being quicker on the way back.
