This will be a hike from Keawaiki to Anaeho’omalu Bay. This hike will be roughly 6 miles round trip with a stop at Lava Lava Beach Club for lunch midway. The hike is approximately 3.5 - 4 miles from the parking lot to A-Bay where we will have lunch at noon when the restaurant opens, then it’s about 2.5 miles back to the parking lot via the Kings Highway Trail. Please don’t sign up if you don’t want to stop and have lunch. This is for a smaller group as getting tables at the restaurant isn’t easy. We are planning on 6 since that’s the standard table size there. If we have have enough for a full 2 tables I might pull people off the waitlist but with all the no shows and last second cancels I may stick with only 6 if it’s people with good track records of attending.

There is no shade and hiking will be along the shoreline in lava fields so can be hot. Please bring water and sun protection. You will be able to fill back up with water at Lava Lava Beach Club. If like me you sweat allot while hiking, you might want to bring a fresh shirt or something to change into once we get to A-Bay.....it’s a fairly nice restaurant if you aren’t familiar with it so I prefer to not walk in looking like a hot mess.

Directions to the trailhead.......

Mile Marker 79 TH: Travel Hwy. 19 north of Kailua-Kona to ¾ of a mile between Mile Markers 78 and 79, closer to 79. It's just a pull-off near the highway. Do not attempt to drive the road or block the gate near the trailhead – this is private property. Be careful pulling back out into traffic.
