18:30 -19:30 -Elad Rosenheim (Software Architect at Dynamic Yield) - One does not simply build a recommendation engine

A real-life use case of how we built a recommendation engine for news (live at NBC News and soon other very high profile sites) and then for e-commerce. The engine is deployed globally and responds within a few milliseconds.

In contrast with my previous work, which was "black-box" machine learning, a recommendation engine involves many heuristics and bits of domain knowledge. Many possible strategies are available to us, and we need to make a choice of how best to engage with the user in each part of their journey.

19:40 - 20:40 - Tomer Paz (Software Architec at verint)- immutable infrastructure- What is it? How does it changes architecture as we know it?

We will explain and demo how immutable infrastructure architecture looks like.
Containers, service discovery, distributed configuration management, clustering and resource management.

In this short 1h session, we will try to clear out the mess about many different buzz words around service containers and what the heck is the purpose of “ immutable infrastructure”.

I will provide the broad architectural context, the evolution from monolithic systems to ‘micro services’ architecture and why immutable infrastructure is a key enabler.

What tools to use? What is the purpose of each tool? What problems are we trying to solve with these tools? What shall we chose depending on our requirements?

How should a company with existing traditional systems shall make the change?

We will also try to do a short hands-on demo that shows the eco-system of micro-services architecture, from service containers, to service discovery, distributed configuration management and resources clustering and finally monitoring such a system.

If time will allow, Q&A about pitfalls and drawbacks to considered with such architecture and its tools will be gladly answered.
