Big Apple Divers July 2025 Meeting

🌊 Guest Speaker: Rob Rodriguez has been diving since the early 1990s, starting with a NAUI certification at Beach 9th Street. In the 1990s, he completed commercial dive school and medic school, earning his Diver Medic/Hyperbaric certification. He worked for 10 years as a Diver Medic and Hyperbaric Technologist at Jacobi Medical Center, Montefiore, and Nassau County Medical Center.

He graduated from a maritime college with a degree in Vessel Operations and holds a 200-ton USCG license. He also earned a graduate degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College. As a ship captain, he has operated vessels up to 200 tons for various companies in NYC. Rob joined the NYPD 25 years ago and has served 20 of those years with the Scuba Team/Air Sea Rescue Unit. He is currently a 1st Grade Detective and Operations Coordinator for the NYPD Scuba Team.

Rob’s presentation will focus on evidence recovery in public safety diving — covering core practices, key considerations, and the latest technology being used in the field.
