Big Data DC - July Edition

Details
For the July edition of Big Data DC we are happy to have Drew Stephens from Palomino Labs as our presenter. Drew will talk about a how Palomino Labs has used BenchPress to help clients monitor performance of their APIs and will give an overview of writing a BenchPress integration.
BenchPress ( https://github.com/palominolabs/benchpress ) is a framework for high performance load testing. Through a distributed architecture you can easily produce loads exceeding what can be pushed across a gigabit interface, simply by increasing the number of workers. BenchPress handles all of the partitioning of workload & communication amongst workers; all you need to do is write a few classes to tell BenchPress how to communicate with your database or API.
Drew is a software engineer at Palomino Labs, a software consultancy specializing in holistic product development, mobile applications, and agile consulting. Drew is skilled in systems administration and takes automation seriously, ruthlessly applying the Unix adage "if you do it twice, you're doing it wrong". As a certified Scrum Master, Drew worked alongside Ryan to build a kaizen-based development organization at Genius.com (http://genius.com/) capable of delivering high-quality products as-promised and on-time. Drew spends his time away from computers lifting heavy things and racing cars that are well past their prime.
The agenda will be:
6:30-7:00: meet, greet, & eat 7:00-7:15: welcome, announcements, & introductions 7:15-7:45: BenchPress 8:00-8:30: Lightning Talks 8:30-9:00: networking, etc. Beer and pizza will be provided by AddThis.
