## Talk

We are going to try something a bit different in August and run several 10 minute careers talk. The aim is to show the diversity of career paths in big data. If you're interested please get in touch, otherwise it will be very Wejo centric!

## Speakers

Matt Houghton – CDL Software
Matt is Data Architect @CDL_Software where he spends his time undertaking R&D and working with customers and CDL teams on their most challenging and complex data problems. Matt is an AWS Community Builder and holds all 13 AWS certifications. In 2021 Qlik named Matt one of their 50 Global Luminaries for driving measurable impacts from data and sharing with the community. @mattdevdba

Catherine King & Tom Armitage – Autotrader
Tom Armitage
Tom is a Data Scientist at Auto Trader and got his start in ML when he was finding the best way to weigh clusters of galaxies for his PhD. Since then, he has worked as both a Data Analyst and Scientist delivering a wide variety of projects, from pre-sales scoping, to optimal sort orders.
Catherine King
With a degree in Astrophysics and a passion for cars, Catherine King combines her skills and interests in her role as a Data Analyst at Auto Trader. Catherine has been at Auto Trader for 4 years and has previously worked as an Insights Analyst at a digital marketing agency. Catherine works closely with Retailer Insight and Data teams to enable data to be self-served by the wider business. Additionally, she regularly presents on Auto Trader’s Retailer Insights Webinars, providing the latest updates on the health of the automotive marketplace.

Shevon Silva – Freelance
An introduction to system architecture
Shevon worked as a lecturer upto degree 2nd year level; he also worked in the computing field upto senior software engineer/developer level; he currently involves in his private researches: he got knowledge and experience over 20 years in multiple disciplines in computing. He already conducted talks in a conference and in an academic event.

Phrances Perez – Slalom
Win with data in 3 moves
Phrances is a senior consultant in the Data and Analytics team @Slalom. She’s an expert in data engineering and analytics and loves working with clients to help them unlock the value of their data. She will be talking about her experience and how to “Win with data in 3 moves”.

Stuart Allen – Slalom
A career in data can take many strange turns
Stuart has gone from sales for a tiny tech company to working for PwC across some significantly sized projects in a few different realms (audit support, to GDPR and Data governance to designing and implementing data analytics platforms) to where he now works with Phrances at Slalom.

Rossmary Villegas, Ph.D – Head of Data Science, Pricing @ Kalibrate
Multidisciplinary applications using Artificial Intelligence
I have a background in Petroleum Engineering (Universidad Central, Venezuela) and earned a Master and PhD in Applied Mathematics (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, sponsored by the Spanish oil company Repsol YPF). I also have professional experience using Data Science and advanced mathematics to solve multidisciplinary problems working as an engineer and researcher in oil companies and as an academic in various departments of highly recognized universities. Those include Mathematics (Saudi Arabia, PMU), Geoscience (University of Leeds, Heriot Watt University) and Engineering (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, The University of Manchester). Currently I am Head of Data Science in fuel pricing at Kalibrate, Manchester, developing novel products using Artificial Intelligence.
