Synopsis:

What is Spark? How can you use DataBricks CE to get some hands-on experience with it? What changes in Spark 2.0? (spoiler: it is much faster)
We will look at some features of those technologies and walk through a sample project. No experience with Spark or DataBricks required, this will be an introductory level presentation.

Bio: Ilya is a Data Science Engineer at Adobe where he has the easy role of applying machine learning algorithms to petabytes of data in near-real-time.
Before joining Adobe, Ilya worked for US Department of Labor and a small company in the semiconductor process modeling industry. As a physicist, Ilya is driven to pragmatically find truth from data and look for important questions. His wife and son do not seem to mind the millions of data points collected in their household daily by Arduino-powered IoT devices he concocts on weekends.
