Given the layoffs and all that is going on in our community this year, I felt it was a good time to do the same presentation I did at the Big Mountain Data and Dev conference. This will give me a good chance to record the session as well and share it with others. Join me on Online on December 14th to learn about "Engineers guide to preparing for layoffs" by Pat Wright.

Abstract:
It's happening a lot in our industry right now, You hear things like "Everyone is hiring, so many jobs out there!". But then you also see friends and fellow workers getting laid off from jobs. Chances are you will be laid off once in your life, why not be prepared for it all the time. People come to me all the time saying "I got laid off now what". This presentation will talk all about what you should do NOW to prepare for a layoff. It's really quite simple but does take some time and energy.

Pat Wright, I have been a DBA for the past 20+ years, I've worked with SQL Server, Postgres and Mysql. Big data Technologies (hadoop,hive,spark). I work with data in every aspect whether reporting/storing or transforming. I also run Utah Geek Events and volunteer to help and build the community whenever I can.
