Walking fitness needed: a moderate level. While only a short walk, it is all uphill, including two long very steep sets of stairs. Each has a handrail. See photos below. 60 steps at Merewether Baths and then 90 steps at Lloyd St.

Great for those who have recently learnt to cycle through to those who are experienced.

What we'll do:

  • First we cycle 5km to Merewether Beach, which will take us 25 minutes. It's a lovely easy flat route, 70% on shared paths & 30% on low-traffic streets.
  • At Merewether Baths, we lock up our bikes.
  • We then walk 20 minutes to Hickson St Lookout. It's only a 1km walk, but it is all uphill, including two very steep and long sets of stairs.
  • After pausing to enjoy the view, we walk back to our bikes, and cycle back the way we came, to finish at Wickham.

.

You’ll need:

  • front light & rear light
  • helmet
  • bike with good working brakes and tyres pumped to the recommended PSI
  • bike lock (for when we stop, or for if you get a mechanical issue)
  • phone & opal card in case of puncture
  • a repair kit, if you have one (spare tube, tyre levers, patches, pump etc)
  • water bottle
