Please download or print the route map to bring with you. Show up plenty early (most arrive a 1/2 hour early) to prepare as all rides begin on time. Rides hosts will provide ride-pertinent information announcements ten minutes before the start time. Bring lunch, water, and all needed gear. All riders must be able to change a flat tire--carry the needed tools and spare tube. We are not responsible for sagging or mechanical assistance as this is your responsibility. Have a plan.

**RIDE SAFETY TIPS**
Everyone on a ride is individually responsible for following these tips:
1. Helmets & rear view mirrors or radar are required. Bright clothing is strongly recommended.
2. Carry extra water and a first aid kit including band aids, cleanser, antibiotic ointment, one or two vinyl gloves. Current CPR certification is recommend as heart attacks happen.
3. Even on sunny days use rear lights to maximize visibility, to avoid "hiding" in the shadows.
4. Cyclists have no special privileges and must follow all laws the same as for cars.
5. Avoid getting strung out and loosing the sweep. At the start agree if you'll regroup at turns or as needed. Pause at each turn to ensure no traffic is coming and the rider behind you sees the turn direction. Look out for each other.
6. Allow plenty of space between bikes. The biggest risks are the riders in front of you and the riders behind you.
7. Do not ride more than two abreast, and then only when safe to do so. Ride single file when being passed by other riders. Stay alert at all times. Biking is not always a social activity.
8. Use hand signals for all turns.
9. When passing another bike or a pedestrian, always alert them verbally: "bicycle passing", "good morning", etc. Remember no one expects to be passed on the right.
10. Ride single file and to the far right if there's a double center line or heavy traffic. If a vehicle is overtaking, call out “car back” to riders in front. If a vehicle has been waiting to pass for more than a couple of minutes, safely pull off the roadway as quickly as possible.
11. Use hand and voice signals to point out road hazards (pot holes, gravel, glass, other foreign objects), dogs, etc.
12. Call out emergency actions: i.e.: “stopping !” (also stick leg out). If possible don’t stop in the road -- pull off the road to stop.
13. Do your own navigating. Beware that the riders ahead of you may not be following the route sheet and could lead you astray. If you don't know the route, don't pass the lead rider. Bring a route map or smart device with map “app” in case you get off route.
14. For aggressive dogs, get off the road and dismount as quickly as possible. Walk past the dog with the bike between you and the animal. Squirting dogs with a water bottle or a high-pitched whistle, a "dog repeller" can be effective. Report dog-related issues as soon as you're safely away from the dog. Call these numbers, they will ask for the address where the incident occurred and for a description of the dog.
