Moderate-level ride: Morges - Bière - Saint-George

Details

In the quest for cooler climes, we will leave early from Morges and climb to Montricher and Bière, down to Saubraz and up again to Saint-George, then back to Geneva - normally with tailwind much of the way (except for the start, where a headwind may cool us as we climb ;-) ).

Meeting time and meeting point: 8am at MORGES train station, southern exit - i.e. start point marked on route below.
Please make your own way there in advance; the ride will leave at 8:05am. (If taking the train, you need to buy a ticket for yourself and one for your bike, you can buy in advance online.)

The pace will be moderately fast (see NOTE below).

Please download the route to your cycling computer or phone. This helps you and the group.

Distance: 83km
Elevation gain: 1,000m
Start time: 8am
Pace: moderately fast
Coffee: Yes, bring CHF
Estimated return to start: ~1-1:30pm
Route: https://www.komoot.com/tour/1883418048?share_token=amgIpTyI30O8rCObOSCH5vbJzDhdnzozUccDg9U9xQnRP8TTZS&ref=wtd

RSVP to book your place; by doing so, you confirm agreement to our terms and conditions. And kindly cancel if you can't come to make room for others!

Bring snacks, water (2 bottles, it will be hot!), any layers you need, and a flat repair kit. See a checklist here. Also make sure your bike is in good working order.

And finally, please provide a contact person and telephone number in case of emergency (e.g. on your phone's lock screen or a post-it on the back of it)

NOTE: For moderate rides you should be able to keep the average pace (~20-21 kph in this case), have ridden before in a group, and be both comfortable and safe when group riding.

If you have any doubt or have not done any group riding, please start on a relaxed/intro ride. Bike Club Switzerland runs rides most weeks to help you learn the group riding skills you need to join this ride. We regroup at the top of climbs and stop for major mechanicals - but you need to be self-sufficient to complete the ride or make your way back if you have a major mechanical.
