For those left behind by the Tour de B'days - an easy paced nature lover's 20k circuit ride in the Parklands, with plenty of stops of interest. No stadia.
Meet 9.30am at Meadowbank Station Platform 1 exit, forecourt. If your train arrives on Platform 2, use the lift to bring you up and over train tracks, to the forecourt meeting place. Parking available in Bank St.
To start, we cross the Parramatta River on the the John Whitton Bridge, dropping down to Rhodes waterfront and into Bicentennial Park. See a fishway leading into fresh water Lake Belvedere. Push our bikes on a boardwalk over tidal Grey Badu Mangroves. Tell the time on a huge sundial. At a bird hide, view an expansive water bird refuge. See rusting hulks in Homebush Bay- see featured photo. Ride up Bay Marker, and cross into Wentworth Point for coffee.
After coffee, to get the kilometres up, cycle on The River Walk towards Silverwater Bridge and cross back over the Parramatta River. Continue riding east on the Parramatta Valley Cycleway, back towards Meadowbank Wharf and train station
NB Our coffee stop is late in the ride. If you need a coffee before that, plan to arrive early at Meadowbank Station and enjoy one at cafe on the forecourt .
