Wander to Watsons Bay
Details
Meet at 7.50 am for 8 am start at the fountain in Lackey St Summer Hill, half a block from Summer Hill train station.
We head to Stanmore then Wilson St cycleway to Surry Hills, go over the Tibby Cotter bridge and up the Moore Park Rd cycleway to Oxford St, down Bondi Rd to the beach, visit Ben Buckler point then up Military Road to Dover Heights. Go through back streets, take in big views, cross Old South Head Rd and descend to New South Head Rd to Rosebay-Kincoppal school.
We take Vaucluse Rd to visit Neilson Park for coffee and a swim.
Back on the bike we will cross the Parsley Bay suspension bridge and make our way to Watsons Bay, take a short deviation through the Gap Bluff National Park, go through the back streets to Camp Cove and on to a lovely cafe near the Watsons Bay baths for lunch and/or another swim.
We then get a ferry to Circular Quay and head back to Summer Hill via the Anzac Bridge and Hawthorn Canal path.
Bring your Opal card and a sun hat, sunblock, water, swimmers and towel.
All the usual conditions apply, ie helmet, pump, spare tube, tools and also a bike lock.
Approx distance 40 plus klms on a mix of roads and bike paths. There are HILLS and traffic at times. Not for beginners. Estimated to take 4 and a half hours depending on lunching and swimming time.
Bail out option at Bondi Junction station.
If its raining heavily on the day the ride will be cancelled.
