Thursday MTB Series — Short and Fun!

Details
July 3rd looks to be on the warm side, so we’ll start early and keep it short for this fun mountain bike ride with some interesting features.
Starting at the North Peavine Trailhead, we’ll head south and turn left onto the singletrack Headwaters Trail. Our next turn will be right onto the double track powerline Trail, and at the Y we’ll take a left onto Eagle Trail, then keep right on Red Tail. Red Tail sweeps down to a deep ravine with fairly steep switchbacks that are definitely rideable. From here, we head back to the Peavine and ride south to the Hobbit Trail. On the Hobbit, we’ll take a short 1 mile loop I’ll call the Little Hobbit Loop. It has everything — some brief stretches of boulders, some Little Red Riding Hood woods, grasslands, a short boulder section (that we’ll walk over), a cool ridge, and a log rollover. This is a delightful and fun little loop. We’ll take a left off this loop and go visit the Hobbit tunnel. Then, it’s back to our start with the wind at our backs, heading north on the Peavine. In all, it’s 10.59 miles and 659 feet of elevation. I would advise bringing a mountain bike or an e-bike for this one. Casual pace, easy ride. Helmets are required.
