More Berms with Your Beans!
Details
Following up on Brian’s MTB clinic from last week, I’d like to practice some of his pointers to get more comfortable on the berms on the gravity flow trails. I suspect some others would, too.
First, we’ll ride up to the third hub and take Rice and Beans, Baked Beans, and Magic Beans to descend to the bottom. Magic beans has some nice berms to get accustomed to. Next, we will ride 3 plus miles up to the fifth hub in order to come down an intermediate trail called Butter Beans. Right from the start, this trail has a series of big berms where we can get some practice. We’ll only descend down to a junction with Bean There, where we can divert to a trail back up to the third hub. From there, we’ll climb back to the 4th hub, where we’ll enjoy the Cool Beans (a favorite for many riders) for our final ride.
Some climbing is involved to get up to each hub. The descent from the third hub is relatively easy. Butter Beans and Cool Beans are intermediate trails with bigger berms and a few rock features. This is a no-drop ride, and we will wait for slower climbers with regroupings at each hub. Helmets are required. These trails are really special. The more we ride them, the more we’ll like them.
