Member Recognition — A Fun and Casual Mountain Bike Ride
Details
I have planned an (approximately) 16.5 mile no-drop mountain bike ride on some of the easiest and most enjoyable singletrack trails in this area. Starting at the Watson Lake Pavilion we’ll head down the adjacent Circle Trail over to the boat launch area, then take the dirt singletrack trail over to the Peavine. From here we’ll head north to the Hobbit Trail. After turning left on that trail, we’ll take another left and loop around the short and entertaining Soggy Bottom Trail. Then it’s a right turn back onto the Hobbit, to a right turn on the Peavine for a short distance until we reach the Boblett Trail.
We’ll head east on the scenic Boblett and Elizabeth trails until we emerge onto the Iron King Trail. From here, it’s a little further east to the Headwaters Trail, then a left on the Powerline Trail. We’ll turn left on Eagle and head over to Red Tail, where we’ll eventually swoop down some fun switchbacks, through a ravine and back to the tail end of the Headwaters. We’ll come out on Peavine and make our way south and back around the lake to the Circle Trail and the pavilion.
This route will be pretty rideable for most mountain bikers. The majority of the trails are green. Some are blue, but these can easily be bypassed and you can stay abreast of the group. Also, it’s easy to walk around any of the brief, trickier obstacles. Mountain bikes and e-bikes are both suitable on these city trails. And don’t forget your helmet!
