An adventure for sure! It's been years since we've been to Palace Station, a former stage coach stop and the oldest buidling in AZ. It's worth this challenging ride to see the historic site. In addition to the building, there's also a very interesting cemetery. Meet at the dirt parking area just where the pavement ends on Senator Highway. The total ride is about 21 miles and 2100' of climbing. The first section up to the cattleguard is in good shape. The next part goes through a wash, and gets steep and rocky, but is manageable. I will be on my gravel bike, but mountain bikes and e-mountain bikes would be preferable for the rocky part. You can always walk the difficult parts.
