Dorset Coast Weekend cycle tour

NOTE EVENTS ARE NOT EXCLUSIVE TO MEET UP SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE FEW ATTENDEES SHOWING. WE GENERALLY HAVE AROUND 10 PEOPLE.
Summary: With over seven miles of golden sands, the coastline of Bournemouth and beyond is a beautiful place to explore by bike. Promenades, piers, harbours and parks, all just an easy cycle away. You’ll see why this area is one of the most visited and loved resorts in the country.
Distances: 30 miles Saturday and 20 miles Sunday
Terrain: Mainly flat Path/Road: Beach front promenade, traffic free cycle paths and quiet roads
Physical difficulty: Moderate Saturday, Easy Sunday. Cycling at a medium pace for 4 hours Saturday and 2.5 hours Sunday. Everyone will be assisted but you do need to be competent on a bike.
Duration: Friday night to Sunday evening.
Accommodation: 3* hotel in Bournemouth, on the East Cliff and 10 minutes walk to the pier.
Cost: £200pp, based on 2 people sharing a twin room (£50 single supplement).
Itinerary:
Friday: Check in to the hotel and head to a nearby pub for meet, greet and socialise.
Saturday: Saddle up and head through the popular Victorian gardens, then over to Poole Harbour and Sandbanks peninsula. We’ll take the chain ferry over to the Isle of Purbecks, and idyllic Studland Bay. After refreshments at a beach cafe it’s on to the popular resort of Swanage, then lunch in Corfe village, under the majestic castle ruins. Countryside trails will lead us back to the chain ferry, before a lovely glide back along the promenade to the hotel. A perfect end to the cycling day. Dinner and drinks in the hotel restaurant.
Sunday: Heading east along the cliff top, and soaking up the magnificent panoramic views, our first stop will be refreshments by the river Stour. After circumnavigating Christchurch harbour it’s time for another scenic ferry ride, then lunch at a beach front restaurant. Sticking with the formula of Saturday, we’ll end with an easy pedal along the promenade back to the hotel.
Bike hire: We can arrange – £30 for the weekend.
