This description is all mine. If you see any factual errors, please point them out. If you see any grammatical errors, please contact your senators and/or representative.

This is a long term tradition in Biloxi: started in 1929 and rapidly approaching it's centennial. Originally only commercial fishing vessels were blessed, but over time it's changed to where any (or at least almost any - I'm not sure which) watercraft can participate in the blessing. Participating watercraft are traditionally decked out (if you'll pardon the expression) festively.

The overall event is from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The actual blessing starts with the wreath drop at 12:30. I plan to drive somewhat close to the event and then Uber (or if possible take the casino hopper) to the event.

A couple of notes.

  • It almost certainly will be hot. This affects some more than others. Sunscreen and liquids for hydration are highly recommended.
  • Lawn chairs of some type (or blankets to sit on the groud) are also highly recommended.
  • Food vendors are supposed to be available to provide snacks/meals at a phenomenal fee. With the crowd this event traditionally draws I would expect long lines at any of the food vendors. You may want to pack snacks for the time you're waiting in the food lines. :-)
