The purpose of this class will be to provide a basic foundation for a beginner's point to the world of Bioinformatics. This class will be open to all ages. However, some basic background requirements are a simple understanding of Biology, specifically DNA, RNA, Proteins, and their creation, and Python. The class size does not need to be limited as it is a "dry" program with no wet lab involvement. As a quick syllabus for this class, we will be covering:

  12. MEGA (Download)

A laptop is required for this class, please bring with you. Preload the tools suggested before class.

As outlined, some of these tools need to be downloaded. It would be helpful if participants downloaded these tools before the class, but I can also help set up any software during the class itself. Please arrive at least 15 mins before class begins if you need help.

This class is part of our Teens Teaching Teens series, no previous class or experience needed but basic knowledge of DNA is helpful. This class is for teens only at this point.
