Biohacking Academy #3: Human Microbiome

Biohacking Academy #3: Human Microbiome

Details

Our bodies harbor a huge array of micro-organisms that include bacteria, single-celled organisms known as archaea, fungi, and viruses. Together these are dubbed the human microbiota. Your body’s microbiome is all the genes your microbiota contains. And your body’s microbiome contains 90% of your body’s DNA. Yes, 90%!

Your microbiome is critical to immune system function, as well as providing nutrients to cells, brain function, energy levels, and weight management. Naturally fermented foods can help improve the health of your gut microbiome, which is the 100 trillion or so bacteria and microorganisms that live in your digestive tract.

Join us on November 11 to learn about fermented foods, their history, and how they affect your gut microbiome. You’ll learn about the different types of fermented foods, their qualities, and what to look for when shopping for fermented foods. You’ll also get to sample Garden Goddess krauts and kvass.
