What we're about

At the Biohacking & Quantified Self Netherlands Meetups we discuss the latest developments, projects and trends in tracking and hacking the human body.

The main language during the meetups is English. The audience typically consists of enthusiasts, tool makers, professionals and scientists, but everybody is welcome.
During the meetups there are talks in the following themes: quantified self, biohacking and future.

Quantified Self

These talks are modeled on the Bay Area Quantified Self Show & Tell meetings started in 2008 by Gary Wolf and Kevin Kelly in the Bay Area.
This is a regular show and tell for people who take advantage of various personal self-tracking tools and methods to gain more knowledge about themselves, others and the world around them. Come share what you are doing and learn from others.
Topics include, but are not limited to: Self-experimentation, Behavior monitoring, Lifelogging, lifecaching, lifestreaming, Location tracking, Digitizing body info, Biometric data, Psychological self-assessments, Medical self-diagnostics and Personal genome sequencing.

Biohacking involves changing, altering and improving the human body with (experimental) technology.
Topics include, but are not limited to: genetic modification (with CRISPR/cas9), epigenetics, organoids, biomedical technology, exoskeletons, protheses, neurotechnology, braincomputer interfacing and neurohacking.

What is the impact of quantified self, biohacking and other technological developments on organizations, governments, healthcare, the education system and society? During the Future talks we discuss the politics and ethics of the future.
Topics include, but are not limited to: discussions of non-fiction books (from authors like Kevin Kelly,  Ray Kurzweil, etc) and sciencefiction talks, like books, series and movies.

Icebreaker: Let's Take the Next Step

Link visible for attendees

Hi everyone! I'm Dirk Jan Buter, a software developer, biohacker, cryonist and writer. I'm taking over as the organizer of this group, and I would love to get to know each of you better. I'm hosting an online event to meet up and catch up with each other. If you have any ideas or suggestions on how you would like to continue this group, please don't hesitate to contact me directly. I look forward to meeting you all soon!

Biohacking, Health, Nutrition and Lifestyle

The idea of this event is to talk about ideas for disease prevention and treatment! About a good nutrition and a better lifestyle.

We are looking for:
* People who want to help organize;
* People who want to give a presentation about the topics.

The building blocks of life

This meetup is about the basic building blocks of life, the human cell and the DNA within. How to read your own DNA with a home test kit. These kits allow individuals to explore their genetic heritage and discover insights about their ancestry. Home DNA kits can also be used to identify genetic conditions and predisposition to certain diseases. So be prepared!
You'll leave the meeting with a better grasp of the science behind home DNA sequencing and life is build upon cells, as well as a few ideas on how to explore these technologies yourself. Plus, you can chat with other attendees, and treat yourself to a delicious snack and a refreshing beverage.
