What we're about
At the Biohacking & Quantified Self Netherlands Meetups we discuss the latest developments, projects and trends in tracking and hacking the human body.
The main language during the meetups is English. The audience typically consists of enthusiasts, tool makers, professionals and scientists, but everybody is welcome.
During the meetups there are talks in the following themes: quantified self, biohacking and future.
Quantified Self
These talks are modeled on the Bay Area Quantified Self Show & Tell meetings started in 2008 by Gary Wolf and Kevin Kelly in the Bay Area.
This is a regular show and tell for people who take advantage of various personal self-tracking tools and methods to gain more knowledge about themselves, others and the world around them. Come share what you are doing and learn from others.
Topics include, but are not limited to: Self-experimentation, Behavior monitoring, Lifelogging, lifecaching, lifestreaming, Location tracking, Digitizing body info, Biometric data, Psychological self-assessments, Medical self-diagnostics and Personal genome sequencing.
Biohacking
Biohacking involves changing, altering and improving the human body with (experimental) technology.
Topics include, but are not limited to: genetic modification (with CRISPR/cas9), epigenetics, organoids, biomedical technology, exoskeletons, protheses, neurotechnology, braincomputer interfacing and neurohacking.
Future
What is the impact of quantified self, biohacking and other technological developments on organizations, governments, healthcare, the education system and society? During the Future talks we discuss the politics and ethics of the future.
Topics include, but are not limited to: discussions of non-fiction books (from authors like Kevin Kelly, Ray Kurzweil, etc) and sciencefiction talks, like books, series and movies.
