Mapledale Black History Hike - Allies Welcome

We have been invited by Rediscover Mapledale to do a hike on and around Stow Acres Country Club, which was once known as Mapledale Country Club, which was founded by Robert H. Hawkins, in 1926. It was one of the earliest Black country clubs in the United States.
Rediscover Mapledale is a community initiative dedicated to preserving this legacy, educating the public about Black history in

golf, and ensuring the land’s cultural and historical significance is never forgotten.
We will do a trail that can be from 3-5 miles, depending on where you decide to break off. We will have a tour guide who will provide the historical information of the location. We may even be joined by a professor of African American Sports History from Suffolk University!
Bring water, snacks, and an adventurous attitude! Remember, I'm not a trained guide. I'm just a girl who likes to hike, but doesn't want to hike alone! LOL I also am doing my part to get people of color together and out on the trails!

Guests are welcome whether BIPOC or not. Be sure they understand the risks and that they are also held under the liability release below. Also be sure they have the equipment they need to keep things safe and fun.
