What we’re about

Bipolar Friends Network is a social group for people living with bipolar depression or other mood disorders. Through this Meetup group we'll plan social events and activities where we can share our stories, our experiences, and our self-care tips in a safe, supportive environment. Human connection is important for everyone's well being. Sometimes it helps to connect with people who just get it -- what it's like to live with bipolar. Bipolar Friends Network is a social meetup not a support group.

It's entirely understandable if if you're hesitant about showing up for your first meetup with us, especially if you're feeling depressed or anxious. But remember that human connection is one of the best cures for depression. Take that risk; in the future you will be glad you did, especially once you get to know others in the group.

The Bipolar Friends Network meetup is for:
* people with bipolar disorder
* people who think they may have bipolar but have not been diagnosed
* people with depression or other mood disorders who would benefit from socializing with other people who have experienced depression

Bipolar Friends Network is not a support group. We are not councilors, therapists, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, or other mental health professionals. If you are one of these AND live with bipolar or other mood disorder, you may participate in this group, but you must leave your profession at the door. Our goal is not to merely survive, but to thrive through connection and friendship.

At this time this meetup is not appropriate for non-bipolar allies and family members of people with bipolar.

We also have a private Facebook Group for social interaction between Meetup events:
