Wind down from Thanksgiving and Black Friday with a meditation and birding outing that cultivate being open-minded, receptive, and thankful.

We will start with a meditation focused on opening our minds and hearts to what the present moment has in store for us. It will be encouraged to be done lying on our backs on the earth. However, if this isn't accessible, benches will be available to sit on instead!

We will traverse through multiple habitats - mixed woods, fields, and riparian areas with a creek. There will be song birds, waterfowl, and more. We will end right after dusk in the hopes of hearing owls; I have seen Great Horned and Barred here multiple times.

What to bring - open mind, suitable clothing for the weather and lying on the ground (if applicable.) Recommended, but not required: binoculars (I will have one extra pair for sharing), camera, snacks, and water. Vending machines are available if you get hungry and/or thirsty, though!

Mostly flat with some fluctuations. Sparse hills are gradual. Accessibility ramps. Multiple surface types - sidewalk, boardwalk, packed gravel, bark mulch. Bathrooms available at multiple junctures of walk! It will be about 1.5 miles.

Public transit: Bus 67 (PCC Rock Creek) will take you to 158th and Schendel.

We will meet in Parking Lot C (turn at the light at the intersection of Schendel and 158th. Coming from the north, it is right before Fred Meyer) in front of the Tualatin Hills Athletic Center. All parking lots link up, so don't fret if you accidentally go to the wrong one! Feel free to contact me at (541) 968-9177 if you can't find us! If parking lot is full, there is an overflow lot off Walker Road.
