Brownsmead (Near Astoria)

Join Julian H for an all-day field trip to Brownsmead near Astoria where waterfowl, raptors, and gulls are plentiful in the flooded pastures. Meet at Columbia River Maritime Museum (1792 Marine Dr, Astoria, OR 97103), east end of the building, at 8AM. Brownsmead has limited pullout and parking, so we encourage carpooling. Masking is at your discretion. Stops will include Twilight Eagle Sanctuary, Svensen Island and the nearby Big Creek Fish Hatchery. Scopes are useful; Let us know if you need to borrow binoculars. Dress for the weather and bring lunch/beverages/snacks. We'll finish by 2:30 PM, depending on birds and weather conditions.
P.S. There is construction near the Maritime Museum, so head toward the old railway depot.
