Birding the Neighborhoods: Mt. Talbert
Details
Join the Bird Alliance for a loop around the mighty Mt. Talbert! Talbert is an extinct cinder cone between I-205 and Happy Valley, part of the Boring Lava Field that stopped erupting 60,000 years ago and which includes the better-known Mt. Tabor.
Talbert is a lovely forest ramble. It’s a good spot for warblers like Wilson’s (the bird in the photo) and Black-throated Gray. Other breeding songbirds like Warbling, Hutton’s and even Cassin’s Vireos may be seen, as well as two of the confusing empid flycatchers, Willow and Western.
Join us for a walk through this 200-acre, little-known mini-mountain on the edge of the city! Everyone is welcome, please come even if you don’t have binoculars, we’ve a pair to share.
