Birding at Staunton State Park & Beers at Snowpack

Details
Let’s spend a summer morning birding at Staunton State Park, a 3,828-acre refuge that’s one of Colorado’s newest state parks. We’ll hike 2.5-3 hrs on a wide, mostly level trail at approximately 8,000 ft in elevation through forested areas of ponderosa pine, Douglas-fir and aspen. We’ll look for nuthatches, woodpeckers, bluebirds, tanagers and maybe even crossbills!
After birding, we’ll head over to Snowpack Taproom & Pizzeria in Conifer for lunch and beverages. They have a large patio outside ideal for socializing in the mountains.
To minimize the number of vehicles that need to be parked at Staunton, we’ll meet at Snowpack at 8 am and carpool to the park from there. The daily vehicle fee to enter Staunton is $10 if you don’t have an annual parks pass. That fee, if applicable will be split among riders in the vehicle. Hopefully, we’ll have enough vehicles with annual passes in the group.
Thanks to Michelle for co-hosting so more people can attend!
