Whether you’re new to birding or still mixing up your warblers after a few seasons, this talk is for you! Erin Watson—a speech language pathologist turned bird nerd—will share a fresh, fun take on how to “learn the birds” using ideas borrowed from how humans learn language.
We’ll talk about why birding sometimes feels like learning a whole new language (because it kind of is!) and how to make that process easier, more intuitive, and way more enjoyable. Expect plenty of practical tips, real-world examples, and maybe a few laughs as we explore how to build your birding “vocabulary,” decode the lingo you hear on group walks, and figure out where (and when) to go to put your new skills to use.

Erin started birding in 2020 and has since chased birds across the U.S., Canada, and Costa Rica. After years of teaching others about communication and learning, she’s bringing that experience to the birding world in her first-ever bird talk—designed to make your birding life a little easier and a lot more fun.
