About us
Are you a birder, birdwatcher, or just curious about birdwatching?
Come explore with the Northern Arizona Audubon Society (NAAS) in the Flagstaff, Sedona, and Verde Valley areas. Northern and Central Arizona contain all the major biomes and offer some of the best inland birding in the United States.
Our bird walks and programs are organized and led by NAAS with the help of dedicated volunteers and knowledgeable bird guides. Events are always free and open to everyone—we’re an inclusive group that welcomes people of all backgrounds, lifestyles, and perspectives. Whether you’re a beginner looking for tips or an experienced birder seeking new sightings, come along and we’ll show you the way (and have fun doing it!).
To make these free events possible, NAAS provides honoraria for our guides and covers program costs. Donations are always appreciated—they help us support our guides and sustain our mission: to engage people in appreciating and protecting birds and the places they need.

Bird Walk | Pinyon Jay Bird Walk through the Junipers
Flagstaff Mall, Hwy 89, Flagstaff, AZ, US## Bird Walk | Bubbling Ponds Preserve, Page Springs
We can’t guarantee you’ll see a Pinyon Jay—but you just might! Join an expert guide from Northern Arizona Audubon Society for a relaxed morning bird walk in Pinyon–Juniper habitat near Flagstaff.
This walk is perfect for beginners and experienced birders alike.Along the way, you’ll learn how to identify birds by sight and sound and get hands-on practice using a birding app that helps record observations.
This event is also a great way to start participating in community science. Pinyon Jays have experienced significant population declines across the Southwest, and knowing where—and how many—are present is critical to understanding and protecting this species. Your observations help contribute to a larger picture of bird populations in our region.Date: Sunday, March 22 2026

The Northern Arizona Audubon Society (NAAS) is sponsoring a trail workday at the Bubbling Ponds Preserve, located at the Bubbling Ponds Fish Hatchery.
Bubbling Ponds Preserve is a cooperative effort between NAAS and Arizona Game and Fish Department. We need to do our part to maintain it. Please consider spending a few hours helping to spruce up this important birding hotspot. We will mulch and make minor repairs to the trails. Please bring work gloves, water, and a hat and sunscreen is recommended.
We have plenty of shovels, but if you have a rake, pitchfork or wheelbarrow that you could bring that would be useful. Please make sure your name is on any tools and gloves that you bring.
The Preserve lies within a National Audubon recognized Important Bird Area and is one of the most popular birding hotspots in the Verde Valley/Sedona area with over 270 species listed on eBird. It is located at the Bubbling Ponds Fish Hatchery on Page Springs Road.
