Now is the time to bird Kachina Wetlands
Saturday, May 17
7:30 am – 9:30 am
The month of May is a perfect time to look for birds in Kachina Wetlands because some spring migrants are still passing through while other species are staying to breed. Don't miss out on the excitement!
Meet at 7:30 am at the parking lot for Kachina Wetlands off Tovar Trail. Be prepared to walk approximately 2 miles on a level, gravel road. It is wheelchair accessible, although it is uneven in places.
Bring binoculars if you have them, water, sunscreen, and a hat. No bathrooms are available.
The field trip leaders are Tom Hedwall, tshedwall@gmail.com and Sky Schipper, skyschipper55555@gmail.com, two of our finest local birders. Any questions, feel free to reach out to either of them.
How to get there: From I-17 south of Flagstaff, take the Kachina Village exit. Immediately turn right, onto Tovar Trail. Follow Tovar north for one mile, and turn right into the dirt parking area. You will see a large green water tower near the entrance.
