Explore the varied habitats along Cottonwood’s Jail Trail as we search for a wide range of birds including woodpeckers, sparrows, warblers, finches, and more. This easy walk offers great opportunities to see birds from many families in one outing.

Meeting Point: Jail Trail parking lot
Directions: Meet at the Jail Trail parking lot in Cottonwood.
What to Bring: Water, snacks, binoculars, camera or scope, sturdy walking shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing.
About the Location: Jail Trail follows the Verde River through riparian habitat and nearby desert vegetation, making it an excellent spot to see a variety of species in one walk. The trail is fairly even and we will walk about 1.5 miles. Restrooms are not available.
